Notes from Family Meeting.  December 15, 2002 .

John announced that we will have meetings each year to keep our family closer.  He acknowledged the passing of Uncle Matt who was part of our history for many years and someone we all loved and shall miss.  He introduced our youngest member, Lily Elizabeth Mersky, daughter of Liesl Henderson and Jordan Mersky born May 30, 2002 .

Vincent Aglialoro reminded the group that he is now the oldest male and should get a little more respect.  There was hissing and booing from the crowd.  His family is all doing well although we missed Tina this year who is living in New Hampshire with her husband, Dennis Peele.  Daughter, Marena, represented the family at the brunch and is living in New Jersey with her Dad and going to school here – an honors student in the 5th grade.

Tammy Sbarra was present with husband, Tony, and children, Jackson, Kira, and Trevor.  Kira plays basketball and Uncle John remarked that her pretty smile is just like her Mom’s.  Editorial note:  Jackson is learning poker from his Pop and showed us all a thing or two in a post-brunch poker game. Vincent informed the group that Tammy is still the oldest child which was a news flash to all of us.

Tim Aglialoro and son, Vincent, were with us but Donna was unable to come this year.  She is 9 months pregnant and will be delivering a new Aglialoro (a boy) at the end of the week.

Cass Ricci reported for her family.  Michelle and Mike Maher are busy with puppies – the 9th and last of which was sold the past week.  In a post-meeting note, Mike has offered to put our pictures and notes of the meeting on a CD or on the web.  The family moves in to the electronic age – however, let it be known that an American (you all know how to pronounce this) had to lead the effort!

Nick Ricci’s business is doing well although he said he had to fire his wife, RoseAnn.  She did not seem unhappy with this state of affairs.  RoseAnn mentioned that we all miss Grandpa Sam but his spirit is with us in the persons of his sons, John, Vince, and Bart.  Katie and Julie are doing very well in school and enjoying it as is Angela.  Kate and Julie got glasses this past year – the identical prescription – and are swimming and LaCrosse participants.

Michael Ricci is working with Nick and Michael was present with friend, Jackie and children, Ellie and Timmy.

Bart Aglialoro was happy to be there with his daughter, Susan Sumner and grandchildren, Howard and Hannah.  As far as all the other children running around were concerned, Bart wasn’t quite sure who they are, but thought it was nice that we would let all these strange small people join the party.

Carl Carelli spoke for Aunt Jo and said how proud he is of her and his wife, Evelyn, an education professional as well as great wife and mother.  Girls, Sonya, Laura, and Carla were present and we acknowledged our appreciation that Laura came from New York where she is working in advertising and Carla came from Monmouth, where she is a college freshman.  Sonya is living and working in South Jersey (editorial note – she is getting lovelier as she gets older.)

Robert and Diana continue traveling as much as possible and were in Key West this past year.  Diana’s arm is improving and they are looking forward to getting back to golf (which is how they met).

Marie Rose reported for the LoMonaco family.  As we all know, Rita has been trying to adjust to life without Uncle Matt which is very difficult after so many years of marriage.  Marie’s sons, Brad and Scott, are fine and Scott is living in Florida where he has just completed 1500 flight hours.  He’ll be home on the 26th and the rumor is that he is bringing a potential new family member with him.

John gave an update on our family.  Mark, Kris, Nathaniel, Luke, and Matthew drove down from New York to be at the brunch – which ties them with Laura Carelli for who came the farthest.  Kris is home-schooling the boys this year and Nate explained the advantages of this – no homework, lots of days off, and … best of all … not being sent to the principal’s office.  Luke enjoys the play time.

Liesl and Jordan were there with Lachlan and Lily.  In late breaking news, Liesl will begin a new job in January as public relations director of the Miss American Pageant.  There were several family volunteers to help in various ways – although Vincent said he was open to anything from being an escort down the runway to emptying wastebaskets in the dressing rooms.  What a charitable guy.

Justin just returned from Nashville where he is interviewing with a number of sports teams.  He flies free thanks to wife, Valerie, who works for Delta.  Holly has had a difficult year but is continuing to make progress.

Some non-blood family, but family nonetheless,  updated us on their past year’s activities.  Bob Hilbronner was out for a smoke but Naomi told of her 65th surprise birthday party yesterday given by her daughters.  No matter what she says her age is, we doubt that she will get senior citizen discounts without proof.

Joel Bethany will have known the Aglialoro family for 50 years this fall.  He grew up next to the Riccis and Aglialoros in Merchantville and is John’s oldest friend since they met in the 4th grade.  Joel can’t wait to retire so he can pursue his real life’s work, which is a professional student.

The Lohmanns had a leave a little early, but their family is fine.

 Same time next year.
